Live Event Painting
What is Live Painting?
Well, it’s pretty much as it sounds! An artist, painting live, in front of a crowd… I know it sounds unusual but bear with me! I just think about it like hiring a photographer or an entertainer for your wedding - except at the end of the day you have a beautiful piece of art commemorating your special day (also it doesn’t have to be a wedding! It could be any special event like a birthday party or charity event).
I’m pretty new to this live painting stuff, but I absolutely love handing a finished piece of art over and seeing how happy my customers are - so I know it would be all the more special to be a part of their big day, painting it in real time.
I know this probably hasn’t answered all of your questions so I’ve listed below some things I think you might want to know.
What can you expect when you book?
You will hire me to arrive at your event as a vendor, I'll set up my easel wherever you like and I'll paint live in front of your guests. I am imagining this will mostly be for weddings - in which case I could paint during the reception, or the after party - It is a form of entertainment on the day as well as a beautiful memory that can be cherished forever once the day is over.
Will you really paint live?
Yes! I will snap some photographs of the desired subject e.g. bride and groom, consult them on which is their favourite, i’ll sketch it out then get to work in front of the guests. My painting style is contemporary and can come together in a matter of hours.
Can guests watch you while you work?
Absolutely! It wouldn’t be very entertaining if no one was allowed to see! As mentioned this truly is an entertainment piece giving a unique experience to not only the hosts, but each and every one of the guests. I’m always up for having a chat with guests during the process and they can pop back periodically if they like to see how the painting is coming on.
To conclude, once the piece is finished, I will pack up my equipment and take the painting back to the studio to ensure I am happy with the quality of the final piece. I will speak to my clients on the phone to ensure they are also happy with it and can add any final touches before shipping. Finally, I will have the art professionally packaged and shipped to the client within 10 days of the event.
